Restore Missing Teeth With Dental Implants.

Dental Implants

The dental implant is one of the most remarkable and beneficial advancements dental science has made in the last few decades. With these implants, a single missing tooth can be permanently and securely replaced, or a patient who has lost all of his or her teeth can restore their smile with fixed replacements. Best of all, dental implants look, feel and act just like your natural teeth.

No longer do you have to struggle with removable, partial or complete dentures. Dental implants solve that problem. And when too many teeth are missing to permit placement of a bridge, implants offer a better solution.

How Implants Work

The foundation of your new tooth is a titanium implant—a slender post that will be fitted into the bone of your jaw in the location of the missing tooth. Titanium is used because it bonds so thoroughly with human bone —it is used for joint replacements as well as dental implants.

Once the bone of the jaw has healed well around the implant, an attachment called an abutment will be secured to the top of the implant. When this has also healed, your new porcelain tooth will be manufactured to be a perfect match for your other teeth. In the final procedure, the new tooth is locked to the abutment. You now have a permanent and beautiful replacement for the missing tooth. You will care for this tooth just like you care for all your other teeth—with a good, at-home program of hygiene and regular cleanings and examinations at our office.
"I had major dental surgery including an implant. Dr. Lynch and his staff could not have been more caring. They took the time to explain everything to me before doing it and took a lot of the stress out of it. I would encourage anyone to give them a try."

Implants offer the additional benefit of providing the same stimulation to the bone of the jaws that natural teeth do. As you bite and chew, these pressures stimulate the bone around your teeth to keep it healthy. When teeth are missing, this stimulation is gone and the bone in the area will begin to break down. Eventually, this area of bone can collapse inwards, which can change the shape of a person’s face. With dental implants as replacements, the bone continues to receive normal stimulation so it stays well-supplied with blood and nutrients.

A Foundation for Bridges and Dentures

In addition to providing a fixed replacement for a single tooth, dental implants are excellent foundations for bridges and partial or complete dentures. When several teeth in a row are missing, implants offer a stable footing for a bridge. When all the teeth have been lost, implants can secure a denture so it no longer slips or moves while talking or eating.
